THE INVITATION

You are tired, and that is not a character flaw.

In Mark 6, the disciples come back to Jesus worn out. They've been working hard. They've just buried a friend. And there are so many people coming and going that they can't even sit down to eat.

Jesus doesn't hand them a task list. He doesn't tell them to push through, or to remember whose strength they're working in, or that the harvest is plentiful. He takes them out of town, away from every person who needs something from them, and tells them to rest.

He is the one who says it first. That matters. Rest isn't something we're sneaking off to do while He's not looking. It is His idea, and it's an instruction.

So: two nights in the mountains. Nobody asking you for a ride or a snack or a decision. Food you didn't cook and won't clean up. A fire that stays lit. Three short times in the Word together. And a great deal of nothing, on purpose.

In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength.
— Isaiah 30:15

Most of us treat rest as the reward waiting at the end of the list. Scripture keeps putting it at the front. Rest is not what you get with the leftovers of your strength, it is the source of it. Come and experience it.

You don't have to be at a hard place in your life to come. You don't have to be at a good one either. You just have to be tired, and be willing to get in the car.

WHERE WE’RE GOING

About an hour and forty minutes from Manson, out past Leavenworth, up toward Lake Wenatchee.

It's the largest lodge at Mountain Springs, built entirely of native wood and finished top to bottom in knotty pine. A two-story great room with a river rock fireplace that burns on both sides. A wrap-around deck with a hot tub on it. A fish pond, a wide lawn, and mountains in every direction you look.

Six bedrooms plus a loft. Eight bathrooms, so, no line. A kitchen big enough to feed all of us at once, and a table long enough to sit at for two hours after the food is gone.

Amenities: River rock fireplace · Wrap-around deck · Private hot tub · Two-story great room · Fish pond & lawn · Mountain views · Full kitchen · Seating for 50 · Pool table · Washer & dryer · Air conditioning · Wi-Fi (if you must)

WHERE WE’RE GOING

$195

Early…must register by August 31

After August 31 it's $225. Same weekend, same bed. The early price just helps us plan. Sign up before Labor Day and put the $30 toward a book for the free afternoon.

The price covers both nights, all five meals, and everything we hand you when you walk in.

Cost should never be the reason you stay home. Scholarships are available. Talk to Jess Ghioni. It's a short conversation, it stays between the two of you, and you don't owe anybody an explanation.
